New York couple Amanda and Raj held a beautiful multicultural wedding at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and Swan Reserve in mid-November last year. Blending Eastern and Western wedding traditions, this event was truly one to remember! We loved that Amanda and Raj planned a wedding that not only incorporated their most treasured cultural traditions, but embraced their Disney wedding venue.
Some of the cultural traditions we most enjoyed were the couple’s choice of attire and their bold, lush décor. For their ceremony, Amanda wore a gorgeous red lehenga and dupatta and Raj wore a classic beige sherwani jacket with a turban and matching embroidered stole. After Amanda changed into an equally beautiful while wedding dress and Raj into a dark gray suit with black-on-black shirt and tie for the reception, the couple shared a sweet first look. We thought this was a great way to separate the two events!
Their mandap, a traditional four-pillared covered structure over the ceremony’s altar area, was simply spectacular with all of the floral décor. They also had a rice toss after the ceremony, which is traditional in both of their cultures. It was a lovely way to enhance their multicultural wedding.
Some of the Disney elements Amanda and Raj chose were fun embroidered handkerchiefs with Mickey ears on them, and Mickey and Minnie groom and bride ears. They also went with a unique Tiki Room theme with lots of vivid, tropical colors and florals. And it wouldn’t have been complete without plenty of photos around the venue and Disney’s Boardwalk!
