Leading Up To the Big Day | Planner to Planning

If you’ve been following my Planner to Planning posts, we’re closing in on the moment we’ve all been waiting for…my wedding day! Because we had family and friends coming in for the whole weekend, we planned around that. Here’s the scoop about the weekend leading up to my wedding day and how it all came together!

I took off work three days before the wedding to handle last-minute tasks and welcome out-of-town guests. We had family and friends trickling in all day. When our apartment filled up with Jonathan’s family, the nerves began. This was it— the wedding was really here! With Jonathan still working, I frantically put together our popcorn favor bags in our living room (ah, the joys of apartment living – it made a mess!), packed up my car with as much as I could fit and my wedding dress, and headed off to our venue, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress.

When I got there, I was lucky enough to spend time with my brother, sister, nieces, and nephew. I also dropped off as many items as I could in their rooms. This made for a less stressful trip the next day, as we had SO much to bring with us!

I laughed so much making welcome bags with my family that night. Those are memories I’ll never forget! I found myself saying, “Jonathan and I are lucky that we have a great tribe supporting us” the entire weekend.

Thursday began with me picking up our best man, his wife, and our maid of honor at the airport. I was super excited to see them all! This day consisted of getting nails done, packing our car, and heading to the Hyatt.

I found myself forgetting to eat, which would be the unfortunate trend of the weekend for me. My tip to all brides is to eat as much as you can while you can! Nerves will get the best of you otherwise.

With freshly painted nails, we packed up our cars and headed to the Hyatt until Sunday. We checked in, said hello to family and friends, and then Jonathan and I went our separate ways to spend time with our families. We had the rest of our lives to be together, after all! This made for fun evenings bonding with our family members we hadn’t seen in a while. It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend!

Jonathan and I woke up bright and early to run errands and pick up the donuts that served as our second wedding favor. We bumped into practically all of our guests that day, which was so exciting!

Before we knew it, we were at our rehearsal led by the lovely Just Marry! ladies, Victoria Van Pelt and Jessica Yutangco. We practiced walking in and walking out, and our officiant, Joseph Ainsworth, went through some of his ceremony with us. I felt good about this, though I was stressed out during this time knowing my welcome dinner was being prepared without me.

This is where our “tribe” came in again! My sister Shanna took charge of the welcome dinner, setting all the lawn games, welcome bags, and more for our guests. I could not have done it without my family’s help that day!

We excitedly made our way to the Wilderness Area at the Hyatt where we met our friends and family for our welcome event. The amazing Randy Chapman captured photos of us all enjoying our pizza cones from the delicious food truck, Pizza A Cone, and playing the lawn games. He took snapshots of all of our favorite memories!

It was a fun evening to build the excitement of the next day even more. Keep an eye out for my post all about the wedding day!
