5 Wedding Design Ideas Inspired by Your Own Home | Discovering
Does anyone else feel completely overwhelmed when it comes to wedding design ideas? There are so many great resources out there and your options are truly endless! Since most of us are currently stuck at home, today I’m sharing five wedding design ideas inspired by your own home! After all, whether you and your future spouse live together yet or not, your homes are a reflection of your personalities, and your wedding day should be as well!
#1 – YOUR OVERALL WEDDING THEME
The first decision when it comes to wedding design is your overall theme. Your wedding is all about you and your future spouse, so what theme really fits your tastes? This can be easily determined by your home décor. Whether your tastes run to rustic, modern, vintage, Bohemian or eclectic, how you choose to decorate your home can be a great guide on how to decorate your wedding!
#2 – YOUR COLOR SCHEME
Choosing your wedding color scheme can be exhausting. There are so many options, and nothing is out of the question! But don’t worry…you can get plenty of color-inspired wedding design ideas simply by looking around your home.
What colors are the walls? Your furniture? Even the comforter on your bed? For me and my fiancé, a lot of our furniture is grey, and our walls and linens are neutral colors and white. That translates into silver and white for our wedding, with a hint of purple, a favorite color of both of us!
#3 – YOUR FLOWERS
Choosing wedding flowers is a good next step. Do you have plants and fresh floral in your home? This is another fun way to use your home to inspire your floral wedding design ideas!
If you’re like me and have absolutely no green thumb, this might not be a great option for you. Another way your home can inspire your wedding floral is by the overall design. Do you decorate with a lot of color and vibrancy, for example, or with more simplicity and monochromatic elements?
#4 – YOUR TABLE DESIGN
One of my favorite home-inspired wedding design ideas is planning your wedding reception table design around your own everyday dishes and silverware. Also, think about how you like to host dinner parties and holidays. Do you go all-out with chargers, place cards, and an elaborate tablescape? Perhaps your wedding reception tables could be designed similarly, with ornate high floral centerpieces and intricate chargers and linens.
Or do you prefer a more simplistic approach? Maybe your wedding design could include an elegant centerpiece of candles and greenery, with single-color linens matching your wedding colors and simpler chargers. There are many wonderful options!
#5 – YOUR MEAL
Something you might not have considered needing wedding design ideas for is the meal you plan to serve, but it’s an important wedding element! What kinds of food do you and your fiancé have in the fridge? What have you been ordering the most from local restaurants while you’ve been home?
These choices should help guide your meal of choice for your reception. Whether that looks like a formal dinner of surf and turf, a taco bar, or your favorite fast-food items as a late night snack, it’s important that every element of your wedding day is a reflection of you and your fiancé’s personalities and preferences!
