New York’s Bridal Fashion Week is recently behind us, which means we’ve got the scoop on all the upcoming wedding dress trends! While everyone may think saying “yes” to the proposal is the hard part, sometimes saying “yes” to the dress is even more challenging. With the various silhouettes, styles, materials, beading, lace, trains…oh my! Wedding dress shopping can be such an overwhelming experience, especially when the trends are ever-changing.
Once I had a venue and a date, the dress was the next thing on my wedding planning checklist. Luckily, the Just Marry! team and I kept a close eye on Bridal Fashion Week, and I’m ready to share all of the fabulous 2020 wedding dress trends with you!
TIMELESS WEDDING DRESS TRENDS
Some wedding dress trends truly never go out of style, remaining classic without feeling old-fashioned. We saw all of these on the runway during New York Bridal Fashion week, so it’s safe to say these wedding styles are here to stay!
- Ball Gowns
Cue “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes” from Cinderella! This style of dress is perfect for the princess at heart, or any bride who’s all about the drama. The best part about a ball gown is that it can go with any theme. Heavy satin, tulle, beading, strapless…the possibilities are endless!
- Ruffles
What better day to embrace your inner romantic than on your wedding day? Ruffles are here to stay when it comes to wedding dress trends. Whether the ruffles are adding some depth to a form-fitting mermaid gown or a full skirt of tiered ruffles, they are sure to add some body and whimsy to your bridal gown!
- Sparkles & Beading
Sparkles and beaded details can be added to wedding gowns in so many different ways, making dresses either more traditional or more modern and trendy! My dress has a sequined under layer that was truly the selling factor for me. The way the sunlight reflected off the sparkles was amazing!
2020 WEDDING DRESS TRENDS
While there are some wedding dress trends that will always remain in fashion, we are seeing some fun, new changes to wedding dress styles in 2020.
- Pants
Hello, comfortable! The pantsuit trend is certainly not going anywhere in 2020. These looks can be so versatile, with so many different fabric choices and designs to choose from. If you’re looking for more flexibility and modern style, this is definitely a good go-to!
- One Shoulder Necklines
The one-shouldered silhouette is SO flattering to your upper body and works with any style. One shoulder is the perfect medium if you can’t decide between full sleeves or thin spaghetti straps!
- Floral Prints
If you are looking for something unique and romantic, floral prints will be your best friend! There are so many ways these can be implemented, from super detailed flowered lace patterns to colorful floral overlays.
- Light-as-Air Fabrics
For wedding gown styles of all types, designers are incorporating soft, flowing fabrics like organza and tulle. The dresses looked like they were floating around the models as they made their way down the runway!
