Corissa and Forrest’s Travel Themed Wedding at Venue 1902

THE LOW-DOWN

Corissa and Forrest celebrated their travel themed wedding at Historic Venue 1902 in August of last year. The adventurous couple brought their love of exploring the world into every single detail of their big day, creating a celebration that felt deeply personal and beautifully intentional. We were so honored to be part of it as their day-of wedding team and to help bring their vision to life.

Although it was a rainy summer day, the weather simply added to the story. Their ceremony was moved indoors to the upstairs auditorium, where guests gathered in an intimate setting filled with warmth and anticipation. The couple exchanged vows beneath a modern wedding arch adorned with soft white and coral roses and delicate baby’s breath. The florals felt timeless and elegant, perfectly balancing the classic architecture of the space.

Travel has always been a huge part of Corissa and Forrest’s relationship, and they wove that passion into nearly every detail of their travel themed wedding. Instead of traditional table numbers, each table was assigned a postcard from a destination they had visited together. On the back of each postcard, the couple shared a personal note about their experience there. It was such a meaningful and intentional touch that allowed guests to feel connected to their adventures. They even included photos of themselves from their travels at each table, sparking conversation and storytelling throughout the reception.

The vintage details truly stole the show! The couple incorporated antique suitcases throughout their décor, including using one as their card box. The romantic, old-world feel of these pieces added so much charm and personality to the space. As someone who adores vintage touches, this part of their design felt especially magical and heartfelt.

One of the sweetest and most joyful moments of the day was their ceremony recessional. Rather than a traditional toss, guests launched whimsical paper airplanes as the couple walked back down the aisle. It was playful, unexpected, and completely fitting for a couple whose love story has taken flight across the globe.

In true Southern fashion, Corissa and Forrest also participated in the tradition of burying the bourbon for good luck. Exactly one month before their wedding — on July 31st — they buried a full, unopened bottle of bourbon upside down at their ceremony site, hoping to ward off rain and ensure perfect weather. On the wedding day, they dug it up and shared a celebratory sip together, rain or shine. While the skies didn’t fully cooperate, the tradition was beautifully captured and added another meaningful layer to their story.

The night ended exactly how it should — with a packed dance floor, nonstop laughter, and a glowing sparkler exit that lit up the summer evening. Surrounded by their favorite people, Corissa and Forrest stepped into their next chapter the same way they’ve lived their love story so far: hand in hand, ready for the next adventure!

WHAT WE LOVED

The Just Marry! team loved being a part of Corissa and Forrest’s travel themed wedding at Historic Venue 1902! We asked their planner, Ellis, a few questions about the big day, and here is what she had to say:

What modern or trendy elements did the couple include?

A photo booth, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice dessert station, a private last dance, and curated guest experience details like vintage suitcase displays and postcards!

What was something about this event that really stood out to you?

Travel was a big part of Corissa and Forrest’s story! They have traveled to so many beautiful places, so each of their table “numbers” was a post care of a place they’ve visited and they wrote on the back of the post cards sharing their experience. It was such a thoughtful and intentional touch. They had pictures of themselves and their travels on each guest tables too. The couple incorporated vintage suitcases as décor and as their card box. I looooved all the vintage items incorporated! Anything vintage is my favorite so this was so pretty to see to me personally!

What was the couple’s first dance song?
