8 Things to Do to Have an Unforgettable Florida Honeymoon | Organizing
A Florida honeymoon is a wonderful option for all couples, especially if youu2019re hosting a Florida destination wedding! The Sunshine State has some unforgettable honeymoon options that will appeal to everyone from all walks of life. Today Iu2019ll share some of my personal favorites, and Iu2019d love to hear which one appeals most to you!
UNFORGETTABLE FLORIDA HONEYMOON IDEAS
#1 - Hit the world-famous Florida beaches
There are so many amazing beaches to choose from here in Florida. Weu2019ve got the Florida Keys, Tampa/Saint Pete, Clearwater Beach, Panama City, Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Palm Beach, Siesta Key, Naples, Miamiu2019s South Beach, and so many more! Whether youu2019re looking for a beach with a lot of activity, a beach with hotel access, a white sand beach, or a quiet, private beach, Florida has every one to choose from. Make your Florida honeymoon planning fun by looking into some of these options and deciding which is best for you!
#2 - Enjoy Florida's many theme parks
Being a tourist destination, there is no lack of fun to be had in the Florida theme parks! We have quite a few of the most popular ones at our doorstep, including Walt Disney World (in case you didnu2019t know–HA), Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, and Legoland. Disney is nearly always going take the win for an Orlando honeymoon; however, we encourage you to check into the others, as they have fun activities for everyone and can be less crowded!
#3 - Spend time in the Great Outdoors
If youu2019re outdoorsy types, a Florida honeymoon is a great fit for youu2026though we encourage you to think about honeymooning some time other than the scorching summer months! Enjoy an airboat tour through the Everglades, go deep sea fishing or diving off the coast, or canoe through the many natural Florida Springs. The outdoors in Florida has much to offer, including the occasional gator!
#4 - Go cruisin'
We Floridians are lucky enough to have quite a few cruise ship terminals across the state, making it easy to hop on a Disney cruise, a long weekend Caribbean cruise, and even a daylong casino cruise. Honeymoon planning could not be easier for cruise lovers in Florida! There are so many destinations to choose from that I recommend you do a bit of research. You will not be disappointed!
#5 - Relax in the Florida Keys
Even though I mentioned the Keys earlier, they still need a point all themselves! This is a great tropical escape for a Florida honeymoon stay. Not to mention, the people and the food are top notch! You can even take a trip down from an Orlando honeymoon by car, bus, flying, or on a boat shuttle. Visiting the Southernmost point in the United States is a bucket list item that you can check off as newlyweds on this fun and relaxing Florida honeymoon option!
#6 - Satisfy your inner history nerd
If you consider yourself a history buff, Florida has quite a bit of awesome history you can see and touch. Check out Saint Augustine, the oldest city in the U.S., where you can book a ghost tour, visit the townu2019s original buildings, go on a museum tour, and much more. Bok Tower Gardens is another great stop for some unique history, as is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, Ringling Museum, and the Versace Mansion. A Florida honeymoon can be so memorable from the history side, too!
#7 - Indulge in the local cuisine
You can dine like a local on your Florida honeymoon with some of these delicious options:u00a0 ceviche in Miami, Florida oranges all across the state, mojitos in Miami Beach, craft beer throughout the stateu2019s breweries, conch fritters in the Keys, gator bites in the Everglades, oysters off the Gulf, rock shrimp and grits off of the Atlantic, and blackened mahi mahi from Tallahassee to Key West. Honeymoon planning based around food u2013 count me in!
#8 - Shop 'til you drop
If you love to shop, you can find yourself excited for a Florida honeymoon to fill your closet. We have some of the most diverse outlet malls, indoor malls, and local shopping in the country. For our Orlando honeymooners, the best shopping is the Florida Mall, the Mall at Millenia, the International Premium Outlets, Winter Park on Park Avenue, and Disney Springs.
An Orlando or Florida honeymoon will be a great first adventure as newlyweds, and can be filled with theme parks and beaches or completely diverse with a little bit of it all. No matter where your honeymoon planning takes you, we hope you enjoy it as a newly married couple!
