Lakeside Wedding | Katie and Sara at Paradise Cove
The lakeside wedding of beautiful brides Sara and Katie took place at Paradise Cove in early December. This sweet Washington, D.C. couple had to wait patiently through the pandemic to finally exchange their vows, so it was truly a day filled with joy and celebration! It was an honor for our team to be a part of it.
We loved the beachy vibe the brides included in their lakeside wedding. From the soft blue “waterfall” bridesmaids’ dresses and the coordinating blue wedding gown worn by Katie to the Adirondack chairs they chose as their wedding cake topper, everything tied perfectly into their event location. They even had a lakeside reception at Paddlefish to top off the day!
Katie and Sara also wanted to bring in some Disney elements for their Disney Springs wedding. They had Up-themed place cards and a guest book, favors reading “True Love’s Kisses” from Enchanted, a framed mirror with “Once Upon a Dream” scribed on it, a Cinderella’s castle candle, and a few fun Mickey touches throughout. They did a great job of capturing the essence of their wedding venue (a Disney area venue on the water) in their theme and décor!

Favorite detail
Katie and Sara included a special reading by one of the members of their bridal party in their ceremony about the history of LGBTQ+ rights and marriage equality. It was the perfect reminder of how far we have come, and how meaningful it is to both of them.

Most emotional moment
Sara and Katie did a first look right before their ceremony, and it was so special to be a part of! They postponed their wedding from 2020, so the two of them waited such a long time for this day. It was so sweet to see how excited they both were to see each other!

Most surprising moment
Katie and Sara included their dog, Minnie, in the ceremony, and she was SO excited to be a part of it! She sat so nicely for the ceremony, and every time someone clapped, she thought it was for her! It was such a special touch to include her.

A nontraditional choice made by the couple
Katie and Sara walked down the aisle together, and I thought that was so special! The two of them have been through so much together. It was only right that they walked into this next chapter of their lives holding hands!

Fave part of the planning process with the clients
Katie and Sara were both so patient with everything that 2020 threw at them. They were always so positive and excited, no matter what happened! They knew that once their big day finally arrived, it would be perfect, and that they would finally get to be married.

A unique element I loved
Katie and Sara incorporated a speed boat exit after their ceremony, which is such a unique element! They got some pretty amazing photos of the two of them enjoying their newlywed bliss.
