Florida Destination Wedding | Tionni + Jonathan at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress
THE LOW-DOWN
New Jersey couple Tionni and Jonathan held their Florida destination wedding at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in late March. Despite being so far from their home state, this happy couple made sure their wedding truly reflected them! From including their dog, Lefty, in their ceremony to adding a neon sign with a portmanteau of their names, “Tionnathan,” to their décor, there were so many one-of-a-kind personal details.
Tionni and Jonathan fully embraced the idea of a Florida destination wedding, giving their guests custom luggage tags as favors (these doubled as the couple’s place cards!), hosting a breathtaking lakeside ceremony, and choosing a fun tropical wedding theme. There was something incredible to see everywhere you looked!
Among some of our favorite tropical wedding elements the couple included were their vibrant wedding colors of purple, green, and peach with lots of lush, tropical greenery accents, the wooden Monstera leaf place cards and table numbers they used, and the Florida themed personal photos of the couple on each table. They also had acrylic signage customized with tropical artwork along the frame, a tropical themed reception seating chart, and a tropical wedding cake with a gold pineapple leaf topper and purple orchids. No detail was left untouched!

Did you have to pull out any wedding planner tricks for this event?
There was a little troubleshooting involved! The bride’s dog sitter didn’t show up for her pup after the ceremony. My team and I worked with the bridesmaids to locate Tionni’s phone, get in contact with the sitter, and make sure that Lefty and his food/items got to the sitter in time for them to enjoy their reception. It all worked out!

What was something about this event that really stood out to you?
Tionni and Jonathan had a tropical theme, which included such vibrant, rich colors. I thought it was a great way to embrace having a Florida destination wedding!

What was something about this event that truly touched you?
Seeing Tionni’s dad when he came into her getting ready room. Her parents were so sweet and there was so much love surrounding Tionni! I just loved seeing the smile on his face when he saw his beautiful daughter on her wedding day.

What modern or trendy elements did the couple include?
Tionni had a signature scent for the reception! We sprayed it around the space and plugged in Wallflowers for her. It was a great way to awaken all the senses to her beautiful tropical theme!

What fun traditions did the couple celebrate?
The couple had some dances that their crowd all knew. One was a regional dance, and everyone hit the dance floor when the song came on. It was so fun!

What was the couple’s choice of first dance song?
“Lady of My Life” by Michael Jackson.
