THE LOW-DOWN
When Sonam and Jay chose us as their wedding planner for their late-November wedding at DoubleTree by Hilton at Universal Orlando, we truly couldn’t have been happier!
Just Marry! planner Danielle hopped right into action, helping this sweet local Florida couple plan their dream wedding in just eight months. There were many moving parts over Sonam and Jay’s two-day event. Organizing all the details and vendor timings proved to be one of Danielle’s primary tasks right from the start.
Among the traditional events Danielle assisted the couple with as their Indian wedding planner were their Garba, their Pithi, the Baraat, their ceremony, their luncheon, their cocktail hour, and their reception. Our Orlando wedding planning team ensured Sonam and Jay’s wedding vendors had everything they needed to execute their services and stay on track with timing throughout the day. More than one person shared how impressed they were with how organized each event was!
From their gorgeous and colorful décor to their stunning wedding attire, there was so much to enjoy about Sonam and Jay’s wedding celebration at the Hilton Doubletree at Universal Orlando. Be sure to read on to learn more!

WHAT WE LOVED
We were honored to be the Indian wedding planner Sonam and Jay chose to help them plan and coordinate their celebration at the Hilton Doubletree! Here is what their Just Marry! wedding planner, Danielle, shared about their event:
What was your focus during the planning with the happy couple?
Aligning the timing, the catering details, and communicating with every vendor was proving to be tricky for Sonam and Jay to manage on their own. Once I began working with them, we set up meetings and calls with various vendors, did walk-throughs, and talked through each vendor’s needs and timing. Before we knew it, we had a full wedding day timeline! Sonam, Jay, their vendors, and their friends and family followed that timeline to know exactly where to be at what time. I was so glad that our services helped them manage the day and important events involved in their wedding celebration!
What was something about this event that really stood out to you?
The couple had two caterers for their events, so their guests enjoyed different types of cuisines and a variety of options and flavors. Maa Vimla handled their breakfasts, lunches, ceremony snacks, and Garba catering, and Taste of Punjab handled the wedding reception. It was such a great way to give their guests a unique experience between events!
What was something about this event that truly touched you?
Right before Sonam processed up the aisle, she expressed concern about the timing of the day and when the ceremony would end. Her uncle, who was one of her escorts, put his hand on her chin and gave her words of wisdom to help put her mind at ease. He reassured her that time does not matter… that she has to live in this moment and enjoy her special day. Sonam’s smile appeared on her face and I felt tears coming to my eyes. It was so sweet that her loved ones cared so much that she didn’t worry or stress about the little details!
What modern or trendy elements did the couple include?
The couple had a joint Pithi rather than a separate one. Their families partook in this tradition together, which was a nice element and something we’ve noticed is becoming a hot trend in Indian weddings!
What fun traditions did the couple celebrate?
The family played the shoe game (Joota Chupai), where the groom’s shoes are stolen following the Baraat. The bride’s family and guests hide the shoes while the groom’s family and friends try to rescue them. Traditionally, the groom is meant to provide a “ransom” to get them back. This is a way for both sides of the family to show they are opening their hearts to one another and begin a lifetime of fun together. So fun!
