Our Favorite Ways to Celebrate a Thanksgiving Wedding | Organizing
Fall is the perfect time of year to host a wedding, especially a Thanksgiving wedding! The weather is cooler, the colors are brighter, and with the holiday season just around the corner, everyone is giddy with cheer. There is no better time to say “I do!” and celebrate your love with your closest family and friends.
Planning a wedding any time of the year can be challenging. Luckily, the Just Marry! team and I have a few great Thanksgiving wedding ideas to share with you! Read on for my top tips on how to plan an unforgettable Thanksgiving wedding.
MY FAVE WAYS TO CELEBRATE A THANKSGIVING WEDDING
With Seasonal Decor Elements
Why not take advantage of fall’s natural beauty and incorporate fall design elements in your Thanksgiving wedding décor? Some ideas might include pumpkins and gourds, apples, wheat stalks, and cornucopias. These fall elements truly embody a traditional Thanksgiving event while also remaining subtle when used in thoughtful and tasteful ways in your wedding design.
Also, don’t forget to accent your wedding with candles! Candlelight is really a fall wedding must-have. What’s a Thanksgiving table without candlesticks and tapers, am I right? Not only do they look nice and create a cozy atmosphere, but they add the warmth of flickering flames to your fall wedding design. There is no such thing as too many candles! Allow these popular décor elements create the perfect festive Thanksgiving wedding atmosphere.
Through Your Wedding Color Palette
I don’t know about you, but when I close my eyes and think of fall, I automatically visualize beautiful and rich colored leaves. Bring this vision to life in your Thanksgiving wedding color palette! From your wedding party’s wardrobe to your linens, floral, and accent pieces, your wedding color palette should reflect the season of Thanksgiving.
There are hundreds of Thanksgiving color combinations to inspire you! Some of my favorites include pairing silver or gray with blue and dark brown, or going classic with deep burgundy and metallic gold. For a softer autumnal color palette, consider lighter shades such as peach and blush pink paired with dark gold or a neutral like soft brown. If you are looking for some holiday inspiration, focus on reddish hues with white and sage. Your Thanksgiving wedding is bound to be gorgeous no matter what you choose!
In Your Menu
Love a traditional Thanksgiving spread? Ask your caterer to design a menu with fall ingredients in mind. Consider introducing creative twists on the traditional Thanksgiving offerings like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce. Your Thanksgiving wedding menu will surely excite your wedding guests!
Oh, and don’t forget about dessert! Bring the Thanksgiving theme into your dessert and serve an array of seasonal pies. I suggest sticking with classic pumpkin, apple, and pecan. I’ll bet there won’t be a single slice left!
By Expressing Gratitude
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to count your blessings and give thanks. Why not express your gratitude with personalized thank-you notes for your guests? Use them as place cards and set them on each guest’s place setting. They’ll all appreciate the thoughtful gesture!
Another way to express gratitude at your Thanksgiving wedding is with fun fall wedding favors. Some of our favorites are the edible kind, like mini jars of local seasonal preserves, or trail mix and nuts as a healthy alternative to candy corn or candy apples. The fall season offers many delectable delights that your guests are sure to love!
