De-Stress With This Last Minute Wedding Checklist | Organizing
In the busy days leading up to your wedding, it’s all about getting through your last-minute wedding checklist. Figuring out those final logistics and details can be stressful! That’s why today I’m sharing tips on what you need to keep in mind to avoid that pre-wedding stress.
It is possible to put your feet up and savor your last moments as an engaged couple. Wondering how? That’s what I want to help remind you to do! It just takes a little planning and knowing when and what to delegate.
Below is my Top 10 items on your last-minute wedding checklist that you can get done early so you can be a relaxed bride or groom on the big day!
10 LAST MINUTE WEDDING CHECKLIST ITEMS
-
#1 – Make your final payments
This can relieve a lot of stress that you might not realize is lingering. Make sure you pay all outstanding balances so you don’t get a “surprise” bill the week of the wedding. Nothing derails a blissful wedding day like knowing you owe money to someone!
-
#2 – Finalize your guest count
Now is the time to reach out to those guests who are dragging their feet with their RSVPs and ask for their commitment or regrets.
-
#3 – Finalize your wedding timeline & diagrams
Get start and end times finalized with your vendors. Send your planner all the documents they need, along with the final guest count, meal selections, seating plan, final vendor contracts, etc. Share the agenda and diagrams with anyone who may benefit from having them (i.e. wedding party, parents, vendors).
-
#4 – Decor distribution
Drop off necessary ceremony and reception items to your planner or venue on the wedding week, if not before that. Take the cake topper and stand to the bakery, for example, and get your grandmother’s pendant for your bouquet to the florist.
-
#5 – Organize the rehearsal/welcome dinner
Don’t wait until your guests are arriving to think about the welcome or rehearsal dinner. Get it scheduled the week before the wedding, if not sooner! You may even want to have it two days prior to the wedding so you can enjoy your last night alone together as an engaged couple.
-
#6 – Name change
Get your paperwork done for this beforehand so you aren’t stressed after the wedding dealing with it. It’s even a fun and exciting ramp-up to the wedding day to change your email address within your company the week of the wedding!
-
#7 – Break in the shoes!
You may not want your wedding shoes scuffed, but it’s really a must to make them more flexible. Walk around the house in them, wear them to dinner nights out, etc. We want you to be dancing and enjoying your night as long as it lasts! Of course, it doesn’t hurt to bring a change of shoes just in case!
-
#8 – Make sure the dress fits
And we mean like a glove! Make sure to have a final dress fitting. With nerves and anxiety, your weight may fluctate. Better to be safe than sorry.
-
#9 – Take care of yourself
Get your beauty rest and eat healthy. Book a facial or massage, a spa day with your wedding party, or get your nails done. Grooms, spend a day with your gentlemen…go golfing, attend a sporting event, or for the adrenaline junkies out there, go white water rafting or rock wall climbing (with full safety measures, of course!). Pamper yourself and enjoy the last few weeks of your engagement!
-
#10 – Delegate, delegate, delegate
If you’re not working with a professional wedding planner, designate someone in your party (Maid of Honor, mom, etc.) to be a go-to person on the wedding day for your guests and vendors and those last-minute wedding checklist items. Make sure this is someone who knows just as much as you do about the wedding and has your best interests in mind!
As you’re completing your last-minute wedding checklist, try to remember why you’re celebrating in the first place. Take a moment to look around at the people that mean the world to you and your partner, and do your best to cherish this once-in-a-lifetime event!
