#1 - CREATE YOUR WEDDING BUDGET

One of the first things a couple needs to do when they start wedding planning is creating a budget. Now more than ever, it is so important to take into consideration the possibility of being impacted financially by what is happening right now.

While you’re supposed to stay at home anyway, use your downtime to get creative with your budget, figuring out where you would most like to spend your money and where you feel you can cut costs. You might also want to rethink the scale of your event, reducing your guest count for the wedding day itself and planning a larger celebration at a later date to include anyone who can’t attend.

#2 - SCHEDULE VIRTUAL VENDOR APPOINTMENTS

Another key task when you start wedding planning is choosing the vendors you want to work with on your big day. You might think that’s hard to do when you can’t go out to meetings and interviews, but that’s not true! Many wedding vendors are offering calls and video chats with their clients during quarantine.

If you had a meeting scheduled during this time, try reaching out to your vendors or wedding planner to see if this is an option! This is definitely a planning task you can do over FaceTime or Zoom.

#3 - PAY ATTENTION TO TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

As you start wedding planning, another top priority a couple has on their wedding checklist is choosing their date. Right now, there are many travel restrictions due to COVID-19, so it is important to keep this in mind when choosing your date. Many people who get married in Florida travel here from other destinations, for example. If you are one of those couples, check in frequently to see if any travel restrictions have changed, especially if you’re traveling from out of the country!

#4 - FIND INSPIRATION ONLINE

As many couples often do, browsing online for inspiration is a great idea when you start wedding planning! Whether it’s looking for a theme or for floral and cake ideas, viewing images online can be quite helpful. One of the most important things to keep in mind as you are doing this, though, is the cost of the pictures you see. Do your best to research the true cost of wedding services, and consult with your vendors to get a better idea on pricing before you fall in love with a particular design.
