THE LOW-DOWN
With darker colors and fall themes creeping in this time of year, we can’t help but reminisce about Sarah and Phil’s stunning pastel wedding colors from their May celebration at Knowles Chapel and The Alfond Inn. We had the pleasure of working with this sweet couple as their full-service planners, and every detail was filled with timeless romance and heartfelt meaning.
The ceremony took place at the beautiful Knowles Chapel, where the railings were wrapped in lush floral garlands featuring light orange peonies, pink roses, and soft pastel blooms. The couple fully embraced the season, and their use of pastel wedding colors created a dreamy, romantic setting. Sarah’s bouquet tied everything together with the same delicate tones, adding a cheerful pop of color against her classic white gown.
At their reception, held at The Alfond Inn, guests were greeted by alternating tall and low centerpieces filled with those same pastel florals, creating a garden-inspired atmosphere of warmth and elegance. Sentimental touches added even more heart to the day, including memorial tables with cherished photos and keepsakes from each family.
One of the most meaningful details was the couple’s heirloom cake topper from 1909, which has been passed down through generations and now holds a special place in Sarah and Phil’s story. To make the day even more personal, Sarah had a piece of her mom’s wedding dress sewn into her own gown, a beautiful way to carry her family’s love with her down the aisle. The celebration ended with a joyful bubble exit on The Alfond Inn terrace, perfectly capturing the lighthearted beauty of their spring day.

The Just Marry! team was honored to be part of Sarah and Phil’s wedding at The Alfond Inn as their Full Service planners! We asked their planner, Ellis, a few questions about the big day, and here is what she had to say:
Were there any planning “pain points” you helped address for the clients?
Managing two venues, a large wedding party (including many young family members), and multiple transportation shifts created many moving parts. We helped by refining their photography schedule alongside Rachael Osborn, staging family photos efficiently, and coordinating with both VIP and guest shuttles. Our team also created clear staging points at Knowles Chapel and The Alfond Inn, which made transitions feel effortless for everyone involved.
What was something about this event that really stood out to you?
The floral installations were breathtaking—from the stair garlands at the chapel to the alternating tall and low centerpieces with romantic pastel blooms. I LOVED all the fun happy colors in the floral! The florals were bright and made me smile – very reflective of the couple’s friendly, sweet and kind personalities!
What was something about the wedding day that evoked emotion in you, the clients, and/or their guests?
While Sarah was doing her reception room preview, she invited her mom in and they had a sweet impromptu mother/daughter dance to a song from the Wicked soundtrack. Her mom poked her head in the reception doors, and Sarah saw her and said “come dance with me mama”. It was so special to witness such a special moment between them!
What was the couple’s choice of first dance song?
