Hard rock Hotel Wedding Orlando

Amellia and David’s ceremony at the Loews Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando took place in March as winter came to an end. Orlando natives, they didn’t have to travel far for their special day! Alongside their closest family and friends, they stood in front of the venue’s iconic Guitar Fountain and renewed their vows with the help of their friend and officiant, Jake McFarland.

Working with Amellia and David on their vow renewal was wedding photographer Ginger Midgett and florist Raining Roses, as well as the Hard Rock Hotel’s amazing team and A/V crew. Just Marry! Event Manager, Ashley Hernandez, had the pleasure of working with the happy couple, and she shared this about her experience:

“This particular Saturday was perfect…up until about ceremony time when it started to get really hot! But honestly, the heat was the only thing that someone could complain about that day. And it was only for 15 minutes, so in the grand scheme of things, it was a beautiful day!

Amellia and David were celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary. Together, they have three gorgeous children who were some of the sweetest kids I have ever met. David and Amellia made sure to tell me how important this day was because their actual wedding day was anything but perfect. After knowing each other since middle school and moving apart, they ended up meeting up again and got married in 2010 at their photographer’s house in the backyard. The weather was looking great and just as the ceremony was about to start, there was a torrential downpour. And it was relentless! Guests were moved and squished under an awning and it continued to rain for the rest of the night. Both the bride and groom tried their best to keep a smile, but let’s face it—that’s pretty disappointing.

At their rehearsal on the night before their vow renewal, I got to meet the special people in the Merrick’s lives. They were funny and light-hearted and had me laughing the entire time. I was looking forward to seeing them all suited and dressed up the following morning.

So back to the weather on Saturday…it was beautiful and then it got really hot, so we waited to bring guests out so that they were only in the sun for five minutes before the actual start of the ceremony. The fountain was going, music was playing, and the couple’s best friend officiated the entire ceremony. The family of five designated some time to show their unity through a sand ceremony and tears were rolling!

After some family, group, and couple photos, guests were escorted onto a red carpet and into the Velvet Lounge to enjoy some cake, a brunch, and some light music. It was a very intimate wedding celebrated with just those who are the most important to Amellia and David. I was so glad to take a little part in the joy of that entire day!”
