Pantone Color of the Year 2018

It’s nearing the end of 2017, which means it’s time to look ahead to what’s coming in the New Year. One of our favorite annual reveals to watch for is Pantone’s Color of the Year. Well, the announcement has been made, and the color for 2018 is…

Ultra Violet!

Pantone Color of the Year 2018

Pantone describes this particular color as “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade.” While we must admit that purple has been fading in popularity over the past couple years, it’s quite possible that Pantone will give it new life among engaged couples. We do love that this blue-based purple hue invokes the ideas of possibilities and dreams, elements that we feel should be a part of any wedding!

One of the most powerful reflections on this color from Pantone really resonated with us: “Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of … Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world.” We can’t think of a more well-suited color to celebrate all of the positive changes happening in the world today.

Couples who want to use this color in their wedding theme might consider balancing the bold and mystical tone of Ultra Violet with a more grounded color like slate gray for autumn and winter weddings. Bringing in touches of the ever-popular blush pink or possibly soft aqua blue for spring and summer weddings would also be lovely options.
