Kellie Belmonte and Theo Pizza at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel on June 26, 2010:

I had so much fun planning Kellie and Theo’s wedding. I worked mostly with Kellie’s mom, Dwyonnia. She was so full of wonderful ideas and surprises for the couple. It was exciting watching Kellie and Theo’s faces as each aspect of Dwyonnia’s plans were revealed.
Thank you Ginger Midgett for the beautiful images. Enjoy the photos and the interview!
Susan: How did you and Theo meet?
Kellie:Theo and I actually met on Match.com! Every time someone hears that they are like, “Reallyyy?” as though it’s a bad thing. But it honestly just worked for us. We talked and emailed for two weeks and I loved his funny and witty emails. We met for the first time at an Irish Pub, hit it off RIGHT AWAY, and went back to my place to watch episodes of The Office and order a pizza and cheese fries. And when he was still into me after watching me eat all that food, I knew this was it. We were inseparable after that day.
Susan:How did you chose your wedding location?
Kellie: I live all the way in California, but my Mom and Dad live in FL, so I really had to count on my Mom to help me find a place. She told me about the Loews Portofino and I was really excited about it because I LOVE Italy and even studied there for 6 months in college. It’s the most romantic place so to have a version of it for my wedding seemed perfect. And then when I was finally able to visit, I LOVED everything about it. Mom did a great job! The fact that the hotel was willing to do my slightly different kind of food menu was awesome too.
Susan: What was it like for you on the morning of your wedding?
Kellie: I was strangely calm on wedding morning. I kind of felt like it was any old day and didn’t feel much of anything to be honest! I was excited but felt like until I was there, it wasn’t going to completely set in. I just enjoyed my time with my girls!
Susan:What were your thoughts as you walked down the aisle?
Kellie: I was SO CALM right up until 3 minutes before walking down the aisle! Then my mother said something sweet to me and I just got overly emotional. And when I saw Theo waiting for me I literally couldn’t breathe. My Dad actually had to be like, “Pull it together!” I was shaking so hard. I wasn’t nervous to marry Theo, it was just so emotional knowing that this moment I had dreamed about my whole life was actually about to happen. I remember walking down the aisle and smiling but I remember nothing of the music or how anything looked! I know it was wonderful because everyone told me, but the whole moment just felt so surreal to me. When I took Theo’s hand I could feel that he felt the same exact way as I did.
Susan:What was the most memorable part of the day for you?
Kellie: I have two. Saying our vows to each other that we had written ourselves was the most memorable for both of us. We were SO emotional and they were just so meaningful and special. I will never forget the way he was looking at me when he said them. The second most memorable was the dance off Theo and his father had. It was just so funny and everyone got a kick out of it. They seriously dance exactly the same way.
Susan:What was your biggest fear on your wedding day?
Kellie: My biggest fear on our wedding day was so silly! I was seriously afraid of not looking beautiful enough or thin enough, or of something happening with my dress. Funny enough, something DID happen with my dress! The material can sometimes be kind of cheap and the dress actually busted open on the side seam! I tried not to panic too much and when I got to the hotel Susan came and just stitched me back up! No one even noticed! It turned out to be no big deal. As for how I looked, the ladies from MKH Weddings did an AMAZING job on my hair and makeup. I felt truly stunning and beautiful for the first time in my life. And once I put on my dress it all came together. Worrying about those things seems very silly to me now.
Note from Susan: The flowers and decor were done by Petals by Design.
Kellie and Theo had so many special touches within their wedding design. Kellie’s mom made sure that different aspects of their personalities came through. The food included some of Kellie and Theo’s favorites, photos of family members were beautifully framed and displayed, Dwyonnia even sewed the ribbon that went on the cake. It was a personal and unforgettable evening for all involved, including me.
